Keynote Presenters Announced for PETEX 2018

PETEX has always had a focus on case study and the use of technology, and this year will take all of that into account, as we explore the optimistic future of our industry. As such, PETEX is delighted to announce our keynote presenters:

  • William Zimmern (Head of Macro Economics, BP) is instrumental in pulling together the energy outlook for BP.  He’ll open our keynote session by looking at the emerging trends in the market and the impact for NW Europe in the near to midterm.
  • Tony Doré (Senior Advisor to Exploration Management, Equinor) will share his thoughts on global exploration, and will be looking at how change of focus from “elephant hunting” to one of value may see UKCS become a competitive market once again. His presentation, co-authored by Harald Brændshøi (Vice President for Exploration Portfolio & Strategy, Equinor), is titled Exploration strategy and the new energy reality.
  • Ed Harbour (Vice President, Watson & Cloud Platform Client Success, IBM) has seen first-hand how new (and unexpected) technology has begun to change the way our industry does business.  Ed will be talking about the impact “Big Data” has had on our industry and give hints what the future may hold.
  • Maurice Nessim (President, WesternGeco) will finish the session by looking at changes to the way we work and how we can better integrate processes and cultivate collaboration between different sectors of the industry.  Learning from the downturn will be key to the New Optimism that is already building in our community.

Further information and titles will be revealed shortly, along with the full conference agenda.
